This product is a blend containing hypoxanthine (H), aminoterprein (A), thymidine (T), and glycine for hybridoma screening and cell culture applications.
HAT selective medium, HAT is the English acronym for three substances, Hypoxantin, Aminopterin and thymine deoxynucleoside (Thymidin), which is used to screen cells with hypoxanthine phosphoribosyltransferase (HPRT) or thymidine kinase (TK) activity deficient cells, and is a complete medium containing hypoxanthine (H), aminopterin (A), thymidine (T) and glycine. In the presence of aminopterate (a dihydrofolate analogue), cells with this enzyme deficiency cannot synthesize hypoxanthine and thymidine through nucleotide synthesis bypass. HPRT and TK-deficient cells cannot survive in this medium. It is a commonly used selective medium for myeloid hybridoma cells.
